Before opening the centre we took a good look at the industry and there are many things that we have implemented in order for this centre to be exceptional. Everything we have implemented has been with safety first in mind. Some of these are small things while others may be more impactful but here is a list of that we have implemented and will continue in order to be the best we can be.
PROGRAMMING
Age appropriate learning program with child led themes based on children’s interests
Accepting children for where they are in their developmental process, such as not needing to be out of diapers, helping with potty training, allowing bottles and pacifiers, accommodating children as needed, and requesting additional resources in the classrooms when required
Aiding with cognitive learning, socialization, encouraging routine, helping with transition between activities, aiding in self-regulation
Provide developmental progress and communicate any concerns
Outdoor learning opportunities during community walks
STAFF
Early Childhood Educators are all registered and in good standing with the College of ECEs, First Aid & CPR trained, and have ongoing learning through the Ministry of Education courses
Safety background checks for staff including Police Vulnerable Sector Screening, reference checks & updated immunizations
Each of our teachers have an average of 5 years of experience
We are an extension of you, whatever you do at home we can replicate in the classroom, whether your child needs a hug right before nap time or if your child needs time to adjust when being dropped off, please let us know so we can continue to help your child with all their needs
Caring and loving staff will not only ensure your child is learning but are also feeling loved and comfortable at our centre
CENTRE
Longer hours of operation 7am-6pm
Flexible scheduling – Part Time, Full Time, and drop ins available
Water purification system for the whole centre with reverse osmosis water taps in each classroom and the kitchen for safe drinking water and hygiene
As much locally sourced, fresh wholesome food with a variety of healthy food items on the menu (we update this from time to time to ensure we offer an even larger variety)
Nut free and strict policies surrounding allergies, accommodations for dietary restrictions
Fully licensed by the Ministry of Education including following strict operating policies & procedures
Participating in the CWELCC program
Subsidy available to ensure our centre is accessible
In classroom cameras for management to view classroom procedures and flow allowing us to jump into the classrooms when they need an extra pair of hands as well as oversee staff performance
Private and secure outdoor space with fall safe rubberized flooring and a variety of toys and reinforced concrete walls
Pinch guards on all interior doors, chemical free paint on walls, safety locks on doors and cabinets, safety glass, age appropriate and varied toys and learning resources in all classrooms, smaller sized toilets and sinks for children to be able to access these easy and safely, fire proof walls to separate other units in case of a fire
On site laundry machines on site for blankets and sheets to be washed weekly and parents do not need to provide these
Strict cleaning protocols and high end disinfecting tools used daily
Hi Mama app – daily child progress reports and daily communication with images when possible
Convenient payments options through the Hi Mama app, in person credit card (3% fee applies) or debit, cash or cheque, and e-transfer
